Rebecca Van Sickle is the founder of 1892 consulting, where she partners with foundations to streamline their grantmaking practices so money can move more quickly into communities. Rebecca weaves together people, processes, and systems to elevate the strategic grants management function and continually improve how funders work. With over 25 years in philanthropy, Rebecca has advised scores of funders on grantmaking system implementations, process redesigns that reduce burden for grantees and staff, and effective staffing for strategic grants management teams.

Prior to founding 1892, Rebecca was the Director of Grants Management at Atlantic Philanthropies and also worked at the Citi Foundation and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. She is a former board member of PEAK Grantmaking (opens in a new tab) and a participant in Justice Funders’ Harmony Initiative (opens in a new tab). Rebecca lives in Portland, Oregon in a historic home built in 1892 on Cowlitz (opens in a new tab), Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde (opens in a new tab), and Clackamas (opens in a new tab) land. She enjoys tennis, skiing, reading, and gardening.
